- Playbook: Multichannel LinkedIn + email
On this page
| At a glance | |
|---|---|
| Best for | Teams whose buyers use both LinkedIn and email |
| Goal | Higher reply rates |
| Channels | LinkedIn + email |
| Plan | Multichannel or Agency / Team |
| Setup time | About 45 minutes |
Some people live on LinkedIn, and others only read email. A multichannel sequence reaches both, and stop-on-reply makes sure nobody gets a leftover message.
1. Accounts#
- LinkedIn: connected and healthy
- Email: SMTP/IMAP, Gmail or Outlook, with SPF, DKIM and DMARC set up
2. Data#
Import people with LinkedIn URLs, and emails where you have them. A CSV from your data provider works well: map both columns. See Import from CSV.
3. Sequence#
Start from the Multichannel: LinkedIn + email one-click campaign, then adjust:
| # | Step | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Visit profile | |
| 2 | Like recent post | Skipped if no recent post |
| 3 | Connection request | No note, or a short one |
| 4 | Delay 48 hours | |
| 5 | If / else: has email → continue if not | |
| 6 | Email 1 | See copy below |
| 7 | If / else: accepted (wait 72 hours) → continue if not | |
| 8 | LinkedIn message | Only sends to connections |
| 9 | Delay 96 hours | |
| 10 | Email 2 | Short follow-up |
Email 1
Subject: {{company_name|your team}} + outbound
Hi {{first_name|there}},
{{personalized_message|I've been looking at how teams like yours find new accounts.}}
We help {{title|sales leader}}s book 10–30 extra meetings a month from LinkedIn and email, without adding headcount.
Worth a 15-minute look?
{{sender.first_name}}LinkedIn message
Hi {{first_name|there}}, just sent you a short email as well. No need to reply twice. Is finding new accounts a focus for {{company_name|your team}} this quarter?Email 2
Subject: Re: {{company_name|your team}} + outbound
Hi {{first_name|there}}, bumping this in case it got buried. If the timing's wrong, just say so and I won't follow up again.4. Limits#
- LinkedIn: Recommended
- Emails / day: 25 for a new mailbox, rising to 50 over 2–3 weeks
- Stop on reply: on (critical for multichannel)
- Cancel invitation if not accepted: 10 days. Emails still go out.
Deliverability checklist#
- SPF, DKIM and DMARC pass
- Mailbox warmed up for 2+ weeks before volume
- Plain text, no images, one link at most
- Under 50 emails per mailbox per day. Add SMTP/IMAP seats to scale rather than pushing one mailbox harder.
Why multichannel works#
- Some buyers ignore LinkedIn but read every email, and others the reverse.
- Seeing your name in two places builds familiarity: the LinkedIn visit makes the email feel less cold.
- If an invite isn't accepted, email keeps the conversation alive without extra LinkedIn activity.
Metrics to watch#
| Metric | Target |
|---|---|
| Combined reply rate | 10%+ |
| Share of replies by channel | Check Reports → Channel to see where your buyers answer |
| Email bounce rate | Under 2% |
| Email spam complaints | ~0 |
Common mistakes#
- Sending the same text on both channels. Reference the other channel instead: "sent you a short note by email".
- Emailing before the mailbox is warmed up. Warm up for 2+ weeks first.
- Stop-on-reply turned off. Someone who replied on LinkedIn must not get your next email.
- Too many emails. Two or three are enough when LinkedIn carries part of the load.
Variations#
| Variation | Sequence shape |
|---|---|
| Email-first | Email 1 → visit → invite → if accepted, LinkedIn message → email 2 |
| LinkedIn-heavy | Visit → like → invite → 2 LinkedIn messages → email only if not accepted |
| Event follow-up | Email with recording → LinkedIn invite referencing the event |
