- Playbook: Enterprise ABM and multithreading
On this page
Break into large accounts by reaching the whole buying committee, in the right order, with coordinated messages.
| At a glance | |
|---|---|
| Best for | Selling contracts of $25k+ to companies with 500+ employees |
| Goal | First meeting with a buying committee member, then expansion across the account |
| Channels | LinkedIn + email, several senders |
| Plan | Agency / Team |
| Setup time | About 2 hours for a 20-account program |
Why multithreading matters#
Enterprise purchases involve several people: an economic buyer, champions, users, IT and procurement. A single-threaded deal stalls when one person goes quiet. Reaching three to five people per account raises your chance of a conversation and protects deals later.
1. Pick 20–50 target accounts#
Score accounts on fit (industry, size, tech stack) and timing (funding, new leaders, hiring, website visits). Start small: 20 accounts done well beats 500 done badly.
2. Map the buying committee#
| Role | Typical titles | Message angle |
|---|---|---|
| Economic buyer | VP, SVP, C-level | Business outcome, risk, strategic priority |
| Champion | Director, Head of | Team pain, career win |
| User | Manager, lead, IC | Daily workflow improvement |
| Technical evaluator | IT, security, architect | Integration, security, compliance |
| Influencer | Ops, RevOps, finance partner | Efficiency, cost |
Create one list per role, for example "ABM Q3 – Economic buyers", and tag each person with the account name.
3. Coordinated campaigns#
Run one campaign per role, all against the same accounts, staggered:
| Week | Who | Touch |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Champions and users | Visit, like a post, connect |
| 2 | Champions | Pain-focused message |
| 2 | Economic buyers | Visit, connect |
| 3 | Economic buyers | Outcome email + LinkedIn |
| 3 | Technical | Resource: security or integration overview |
| 4 | All | Account-specific insight (e.g., "3 ideas for {{company_name}}") |
Use different senders for different levels if you can: an AE for the champion, a founder or executive for the economic buyer. See Team seats.
4. Copy by role#
Champion
Hi {{first_name|there}}, teams like yours at {{company_name|your company}} usually lose [time/money] to [problem]. We've helped [peer company] cut that by [number]. Is this on your radar this year?Economic buyer
Subject: [Strategic priority] at {{company_name|your company}}
Hi {{first_name|there}},
Saw {{company_name|your company}} is focused on [priority from annual report/news]. We help [peer companies] reach [outcome] in [timeframe], typically [metric].
Would a 20-minute briefing for your team be useful this quarter?
{{sender.first_name}}Technical evaluator
Hi {{first_name|there}}, sharing our [security/integration] overview in case {{company_name|your team}} evaluates tools like ours this year: SSO, [certifications], and [integration]. Happy to answer any questions.5. When one person replies#
- Move them to Interested and tag the account
engaged. - Pause outreach to the rest of that account, or switch to a warmer "your colleague [name] and I are talking about…" message after you've checked it's welcome.
- Log the conversation in your CRM with HubSpot or a webhook.
6. Add signals#
- Website visitors from target accounts: prioritise them this week.
- Job changes into buying roles: start a fresh thread.
- Event attendees from target accounts: invite them to a roundtable.
Metrics to watch#
| Metric | Target |
|---|---|
| Accounts with 3+ contacts reached | 80%+ |
| Accounts with at least one reply | 25–40% |
| Accounts with a meeting | 10–20% |
| Time to first meeting | Under 6 weeks |
Common mistakes#
- Blasting the whole committee on the same day with the same message.
- Starting with procurement or IT before a business sponsor exists.
- Ignoring account context. Mention real priorities from news, reports or hiring.
- Too many accounts. Enterprise ABM rewards depth.

Enterprise ABM works best with several senders. Agency / Team gives every rep their own login, LinkedIn and mailbox. See plans.
