- Playbook: Local businesses and regional B2B
On this page
Reach owners and decision makers in your city or region: clinics, law firms, real estate, trades, restaurants, retail and local B2B.
| At a glance | |
|---|---|
| Best for | Businesses selling to local companies: marketing, IT, accounting, facilities, insurance, B2B suppliers |
| Goal | Site visits, calls and quotes |
| Channels | LinkedIn + email |
| Plan | Multichannel |
| Setup time | About 45 minutes |
Why local outreach is different#
- Owners wear every hat. Keep messages very short and practical.
- Local proof beats big logos. "We work with 12 clinics in Dubai" beats "Fortune 500 clients".
- Geography is your best filter, and a natural reason to reach out.
- Many owners live in email, so use both channels.
1. Build the list by location#
On LinkedIn / Sales Navigator
| Filter | Example |
|---|---|
| Geography | City or region: "Greater Manchester", "Dubai" |
| Industry | Medical practices, Law practice, Real estate, Restaurants |
| Company headcount | 2–10, 11–50 |
| Title | Owner, Founder, Managing Partner, Practice Manager, General Manager |
From other sources
Export local directories, chamber of commerce lists or event attendee lists to CSV, with owner name, business, website, email and a city custom field. See Import from CSV.
Only use contact data you're allowed to use, and follow local rules on business email marketing. See Responsible outreach.
2. The neighbourly sequence#
| # | Step |
|---|---|
| 1 | Visit profile |
| 2 | Connection request |
| 3 | If accepted (7 days) → continue if not |
| 4 | If has email → end if not |
| 5 | LinkedIn message (connections only) |
| 6 | Email 1 |
| 7 | Delay 4 days |
| 8 | Email 2 (same thread) |

Subject: Re: {{company_name|your business}} in {{custom.city|town}}
Hi {{first_name|there}}, just following up. Happy to send a quick price guide instead if that's easier.3. Examples by industry#
| You sell to | Lead with |
|---|---|
| Dental and medical clinics | More booked appointments, fewer no-shows |
| Law and accounting firms | Time saved on admin, client intake |
| Real estate agencies | More listings, faster lead response |
| Restaurants and cafés | Online orders, reviews, repeat customers |
| Trades and home services | Quote requests, reviews, scheduling |
| Local B2B and manufacturing | Reliability, lead times, local support |
4. Tips that lift replies#
- Mention the city or neighbourhood in the first line.
- Offer something in person: a visit, a coffee, or a free on-site check.
- Include a phone number in emails. Local owners often prefer to call.
- Send during business hours in their timezone, and avoid their busiest times, such as lunch for restaurants.
Metrics to watch#
| Metric | Target |
|---|---|
| Acceptance | 25%+ |
| Email reply rate | 3–8% |
| Replies → meetings or quotes | 30%+ |
Common mistakes#
- Corporate tone. Write like a neighbour, not a brochure.
- Long emails. Five lines maximum.
- Ignoring email. Many owners barely use LinkedIn.
- No local proof. Name local clients whenever you can.
