People who comment on a post have already shown interest in the topic. That makes the first message easy.

Good posts to mine#

  • Your own posts, especially ones that got a lot of comments
  • Posts by industry voices on the problem you solve
  • Event and webinar announcement posts
  • Competitor posts (keep your tone respectful)

1. Import the engagers#

  1. Copy the post URL.
  2. Go to Prospects → Import → Post comments.
  3. Choose Comments (warmest) or Reactions (bigger list).
  4. Import into a list named after the post, for example "Post – RevOps hiring thread".

Or use the Chrome extension straight from the post.

2. Sequence#

#StepCopy
1Visit profile
2Connection requestHi {{first_name|there}}, saw your comment on [author]'s post about [topic]. Good point. Would be great to connect.
3If accepted (wait 7 days) → end if not
4LinkedIn messageThanks for connecting! Your take on [topic] stuck with me. How are you handling it at {{company_name|your team}}?
5Delay 96 hours
6LinkedIn messageWe put together a short guide on [topic] based on 50+ teams. Want me to send it over?

Mention the post in the invite. It's the reason you're reaching out, and it lifts acceptance.

3. Limits#

Recommended preset, with Cancel invitation if not accepted set to 7 days.

Metrics to watch#

MetricTypical for engagers
AcceptanceHigher than cold lists, often 35%+
Reply rateOften 12%+

Common mistakes#

  • Pretending to be a fan. Only mention a post you actually read.
  • Importing reactions from huge viral posts. Very broad audiences reply less. Prefer comments on niche posts.
  • Competitor bashing. Keep it about the topic, not the author.

Variations#

VariationChange
Your own post"Thanks for commenting on my post about [topic]" converts best
Event post"Saw you're heading to [event]. Would be great to meet there."
Question postReply to their comment's point directly in message 1
