- Playbook: Job-change outreach
On this page
Reach buyers in their first 90 days in a new role, when they're most open to new tools.
Best for: B2B SaaS, agencies, consultants · Plan: any · Setup time: about 20 minutes · Channels: LinkedIn (+ email on Multichannel)
Why it works#
New leaders are expected to make changes. In their first months they:
- review the tools and vendors they inherited,
- have budget and a mandate to show early wins,
- haven't been pitched to death in the new role yet.
A congratulations message is also one of the most natural reasons to start a conversation on LinkedIn.
1. Build the list#
Option A: Sales Navigator (easiest)
- Build a lead search with your ICP filters (title, seniority, industry, headcount, region).
- Add the filter Changed jobs in the past 90 days.
- Copy the URL and import it in Prospects → Import → Sales Navigator into a list called "Job changers – [month]".
Option B: Your champions who moved
Past customers or users who changed companies are the warmest leads you can find. Export them from your CRM with their new company, and import the CSV. Add a custom field previous_company.
Option C: Automatic
If you use a job-change tool (UserGems, Clay, Common Room), send new job changers to Prosyo with a custom trigger.
2. Enrich#
Run Enrich with AI → Write personalized line with this extra prompt:
Write one sentence congratulating them on the new role at their new company. Mention the company or the role, never both clichés "exciting" and "journey". Under 18 words.
3. Sequence#
| # | Step | Timing |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Visit profile | Day 0 |
| 2 | Like recent post | Day 0 (skipped if none) |
| 3 | Connection request | Day 1 |
| 4 | If accepted (wait 7 days) → end if not | |
| 5 | LinkedIn message 1 | After accept |
| 6 | Delay 5 days | |
| 7 | LinkedIn message 2 | |
| 8 | Delay 7 days | |
| 9 | LinkedIn message 3 |
Copy#
Connection request
Congrats on the new role at {{company_name|the new company}}, {{first_name|there}}! Would be great to connect.Message 1: congratulate, no pitch
Thanks for connecting, {{first_name|there}}. {{personalized_message|Congrats again on the move.}}
Curious: what's the first thing you're looking to change in your first 90 days?Message 2: offer something useful
{{first_name|Hi}}, most new {{title|leaders}} I talk to spend their first quarter auditing how pipeline gets built.
We put together a 1-page "first 90 days" checklist for exactly that. Want me to send it?Message 3: soft close
Last one from me, {{first_name|there}}. If rebuilding outbound is on your 90-day list, happy to show you what's worked for teams like {{company_name|yours}}: {{calendar_link}}
Either way, good luck with the new role!Champion version (past customers who moved)#
{{first_name|Hey}}! Saw you've moved to {{company_name|a new company}}, congrats. Loved working with you at {{custom.previous_company|your last company}}.
Would it be useful to set up what we did there for the new team?4. Settings#
- Limits: Recommended
- Cancel invitation if not accepted: 10 days
- Stop on reply: on
- Import new job changers every week. Timing is the whole point.
What to expect#
Job-change lists are usually smaller but warmer than cold lists. Track acceptance and reply rates in Reports and compare them with your standard ICP campaign.
The three-message congratulate → help → soft-close pattern works for any team. Copy the templates into Settings → Templates so everyone on the team uses them.
Common mistakes#
- Pitching in the congratulations. Let the first touch be genuinely about them.
- Waiting too long. After about 6 months, the "new role" angle no longer works.
- Ignoring past champions. They already trust you. Reach them first.
