# LinkedIn and cold email message templates

Copy-paste templates for connection requests, LinkedIn messages and cold emails. Every one uses Prosyo variables with fallbacks, so it reads well even when data is missing.

> **Tip:** Save your favorites in **Settings → Templates → My templates** and insert them into any step with **Insert from template...**.

## The rules behind every good message

1. **About them, not you.** The first line is about their world.
2. **Short.** Invite notes under 200 characters, LinkedIn messages under 60 words, emails under 120 words.
3. **One ask.** A question or one small request.
4. **No fake familiarity.** Don't write "Hope you're well!" to a stranger.
5. **Easy to say yes, easy to say no.** Give an out.

## Connection requests (max 300 characters)

**Shared industry**
```
Hi {{first_name|there}}, I work with a lot of {{title|leaders}}s in your space and like to stay connected with people doing interesting work at {{company_name|companies like yours}}.
```

**After engaging with their post**
```
Hi {{first_name|there}}, your recent post stuck with me. Would be great to connect.
```

**Mutual group or event**
```
Hi {{first_name|there}}, noticed we're both in [group/event]. Always good to connect with fellow {{title|members}}.
```

**Congrats on a new role**
```
Congrats on the new role at {{company_name|the new company}}, {{first_name|there}}! Would be great to connect.
```

**Plain and short (often the highest accept rate)**
```
Hi {{first_name|there}}, would be good to connect.
```

## First message after they accept

**The question opener**
```
Thanks for connecting, {{first_name|there}}. Curious how {{company_name|your team}} handles [problem] today. Mostly in-house, or with a partner?
```

**The insight opener**
```
Thanks for connecting! We looked at [N] {{title|teams}} like yours and found most lose [X] to [problem]. Is that true for {{company_name|you}} too?
```

**The personalized opener**
```
Thanks for connecting, {{first_name|there}}. {{personalized_message|}} Is [topic] something on your plate this quarter?
```

## Follow-ups

**Add value**
```
{{first_name|Hi}}, thought this might be useful: [resource/insight in one line]. Happy to share more if it's relevant for {{company_name|your team}}.
```

**Social proof**
```
{{first_name|Hi}}, [similar company] was dealing with [problem] and got [result] in [timeframe]. Would a similar result matter for {{company_name|you}}?
```

**The easy out**
```
{{first_name|Hi}}, I don't want to clutter your inbox. Is [problem] a priority right now, or should I check back next quarter?
```

**The breakup**
```
Last note from me, {{first_name|there}}. If [outcome] becomes a priority, here's my calendar: {{calendar_link}}. All the best either way!
```

## Cold emails

**Problem first**

Subject: `{{company_name|your team}} + [problem]`
```
Hi {{first_name|there}},
Most {{title|leaders}}s I speak with say [problem] costs them [time/money].
We help teams like {{company_name|yours}} [outcome] without [common objection].
Worth a 15-minute look?
{{sender.first_name}}
```

**Trigger-based**

Subject: `Congrats on [trigger]`
```
Hi {{first_name|there}},
Saw [trigger: funding / new role / hiring]. Congrats!
Usually that means [related challenge]. We've helped [similar company] handle it by [how].
Open to a quick chat next week?
{{sender.first_name}}
```

**Follow-up (same thread)**

Subject: `Re: {{company_name|your team}} + [problem]`
```
Hi {{first_name|there}}, bumping this in case it got buried. Is [problem] on your radar, or not a priority right now?
```

## Words to avoid

| Avoid | Why | Use instead |
|---|---|---|
| "I hope this message finds you well" | Screams template | Start with them |
| "Just following up" | Adds nothing | Add a new insight |
| "Quick call" | Nobody believes it's quick | "15 minutes" |
| "Revolutionary", "game-changing" | Hype | A specific result |
| "Touch base", "circle back" | Jargon | Plain words |

## Let AI write variations

Paste any template into a step and click **Improve with AI · 1 credit**. Use the box next to the button to say what to change, for example "shorter, more casual". Or generate a full sequence from a prompt. See [One-click campaigns and AI](https://prosyo.com/docs/campaigns/one-click-templates-and-ai.md).
